pointless effort

Because, though I've tried, I've never been able to make clear that all I meant was for you to be happy, and I did think you'd be better off without someone who no longer felt the kind of love you deserve. You need better, you can do better, you deserve better. And I'm sorry you can't understand that, even though my love for you has changed, it will never stop existing. The story we lived always made us think we could stand by each other indefinetly, and that we'd always want to. Those feelings have changed, but so have we both, and so has our love. And though you don't seem to be able to understand it, what I did, I did for you and your own welfare, and I only hope someday you'll accept it.
